Joe O’Brien is a founding partner of Opal O’Brien.  Joe has devoted his entire legal career to the practice of family law. He has experience successfully handling family law cases in DuPage, Kane, Will, Lake, Cook and Kendall County. Joe has participated in every aspect of the family law process, from mediation and settlement negotiation to contested hearings and trials. Joe has also effectively represented clients at the appellate level, and he has presented oral argument to the Second District Court of Appeals. 

Joe is a zealous advocate for his clients. He believes that each client should be treated with the utmost respect and given the highest level of service at every stage of the case. Joe prides himself on communication and always makes himself available to his clients to ensure that they feel comfortable throughout the process. Joe values his reputation above all else, and his current and former clients would tell you that what ultimately sets Joe apart from other lawyers is that he genuinely cares about his clients. 

While in law school, Joe clerked at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in both the Criminal and Civil Divisions. Joe began working as an attorney in 2008 at a small law firm in Lake County, Illinois, where he practiced family law. Joe then joined Roberts PC in 2010 where he focused on the practice of family law. Joe worked at Roberts PC until he formed Opal O’Brien in 2015. 

Joe graduated Cum Laude from both John Marshall Law School and Marquette University.
